Ode to the New Yorker
The Angel
Swear...
Smoke…
Drink...
Cheat...
Lie...
The angel would never.
Loved by many,
Good grades,
Future lawyer,
Athlete,
Full ride scholarship,
Mama's boy,
Or so she thought.
Sneaking out Saturday,
Swearing on a Sunday,
Marijuana on Monday,
Twisting the truth on Tuesday,
Wasted on Wednesday,
Passed out on Thursday,
Lying to the family on Friday,
But oh “what a good boy.”
Parents and teachers think,
He’s the perfect kid,
A role model to everyone.
If only they knew,
The angel’s been tricked by the devil.
