Craft Focused (11/1)
It was the night of the Garnet Valley Boys State championship game. The gym that once seemed so big, never felt smaller. People were everywhere and I couldn’t hear a thing. Conestoga was a tough opponent and as the clock ran down, we found ourselves louder than ever. I looked at the scoreboard to see the score 56-57, we were losing. The time was paused with 6 seconds left. The referee had called a foul on our point guard and the Garnet Valley kids booed. As the kid lined up for the foul shot the stands became quiet. You could hear a pin drop. The stands raised their arms trying to distract the Conestoga foul shooter. We got lucky and he missed it. Score was still 56-57. Unfortunately he made the second shot making the score 56-58. With 6 seconds left we would need a 3 pointer. Conestoga full court pressed us and the clock started when Evan passed the ball to his teammate. With the full court press it was hard to get the ball up the court, but after 2 quick passes we were right where we needed to be. The clock continued to countdown, but Aidan passed it to Harry who was wide open. We held our breath as he released the shot. He made it and the crowd went wild. The Garnet Valley Boys had won the state championship.
